Youngering

“What is youthfulness? What is it that makes us feel like we are getting old? When do we decide we are old? What can we do to delay the real effects of ageing?”

A lot of the effects of ageing are due to neglect. It is not just a given. Yes, our skin loses its elasticity. The body feels stiffer. Eyesight may become weaker. Vitality lowers. But what can we do to support the body to maintain a certain level of youthfulness?

FASCIA

The fascia is the connective tissue in the body, the rubber component I call it. It gives us spring, fluid movement and ‘bounciness’. As we age this tissue becomes dryer. It can get sticky and gluggy. This creates a limitation in movement as well as holding patterns in the body. Keeping you stuck in a certain pattern of movement.

MUSCLES

Keeping the protein in the body full, strong and healthy will lead to more vitality. Increased metabolism and boosting hormone levels. Not to mention keeping the body looking full and feeling strong and capable.

NUTRITION

Our nutritional needs when we are 20 are not the same as when we are over 40. We need to support the body. Intermittent fasting aids in autophagy, a process whereby the body clears dead cells and debris on a cellular level. This process happens faster when we are 20, as we age this slows down fasting assists this process.

We also need to look at our fat content. Every cell in our body has a lipid membrane, we need to look at our fat content as we age and check our carbohydrate level as our body metabolises this differently now. This will also decrease inflammation in the body. A major ageing factor.

MINDSET & MIND

As life goes on and we have had more life experiences, there are often residual emotions and beliefs we have picked up along the way that no longer serve us, we may have a view of life that leaves us feeling jaded and tired. Meditation, reflection, introspection, and energy shifting practices will help to see some of these patterns and allow freedom and joyfulness to return. A joyful state. Gratitude and appreciation are one of THE most powerful youngering practices there is. An expansive attitude, looking forward to life’s experiences being engaged in everything life has to offer! That’s the superpower to youthfulness! A joyful state. Gratitude and appreciation are one of THE most powerful youngering practices there is.
